About Us
Gold Law is a Camarillo estate planning law firm that has served families since 1998. Its attorneys prepare estate plans and trusts, help families settle a trust after a death, and handle conservatorships and guardianships. Clients live throughout Ventura County and in selected Los Angeles County communities.
Marissa Garcia leads the firm as its owner and Managing Attorney. Howard Gold founded the firm in 1998 and remains one of its attorneys. Associate attorney Megan Lee joined in 2026, and four staff members complete the team.
The firm pairs the knowledge of a larger practice with the personal attention of a small office. The attorney you meet first remains responsible for your plan through the signing.

Services Our Camarillo Estate Planning Law Firm Provides to Families
Gold Law concentrates on planning for families and on the work that follows a death or an incapacity. That work includes estate plans, living trusts, special needs planning, trust administration, conservatorships and guardianships. Probate, the court process that transfers property left outside a trust, is also part of the practice.
Meet the Attorneys and Staff at Our Camarillo Estate Planning Law Firm
Three attorneys, two paralegals and two support staff members work together at the Camarillo office. Their practices overlap, with emphases that range from trust drafting to conservatorship court work. An attorney remains responsible for every matter, and the staff support that work under attorney direction.
Suppose a mother has just received a dementia diagnosis and wants her plan in place. An attorney meets with her to decide which documents she needs. A paralegal prepares the drafts the attorney approves, and the office schedules a signing while she can still take part.
Mahvesh "Marissa" Garcia, Owner and Managing Attorney
Marissa Garcia manages the firm's attorneys and staff while advising clients of her own. The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization has certified her as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. She has held California license 265815 since December 1, 2009, and joined Gold Law that same year. The State Bar record for that license shows it active, with no discipline.
She serves on the board of the Ventura County Bar Association's Estate Planning and Probate Section. At Women Lawyers of Ventura County, she has held a board seat since 2020 and the Treasurer role since 2021. Her memberships include the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association. Since 2016 she has served on the Los Angeles Superior Court's Court Appointed Counsel panel, and since 2020 on the Ventura Superior Court Conservatee Private Counsel Panel.
Howard Gold, Founder
Howard Gold earned a B.A. from UCLA and a J.D. from Southwestern, and the State Bar of California admitted him in 1978. Conservatorships and guardianships are the center of his work, and he also prepares estate plans. The Los Angeles and Ventura Superior Courts both appoint him to represent conservatees. In that role he represents the adult the case is about rather than the relatives who filed it.
Megan Lee, Associate Attorney
Megan Lee was born and raised in Ventura County and is the first attorney in her family. She studied at Ventura College and earned her law degree at the Ventura College of Law. Her work covers estate plans, trust administration, probate, guardianships and conservatorships. That range allows her to assist a family from a first plan through the court matters that may follow.
Paralegals and Support Staff
The firm's paralegals and support staff prepare drafts, keep records, schedule signings and answer the phone. Nancy Tsuzaki and Kira Smith are the paralegals, and California law requires them to work under attorney supervision. Jailyne Suarez, the legal assistant, notarizes documents and translates for Spanish speaking clients. Natalie Swarts, the legal operations assistant, keeps the office systems and schedules running. Legal advice always comes from an attorney.
How Our Camarillo Estate Planning Attorneys Work With Your Family
Every plan follows the same sequence. You meet with an attorney and describe your property and the people you rely on. The firm drafts the documents, and you review them before signing. Funding the trust comes after the signing, and that step determines whether the plan works as intended.
Funding a trust means retitling your property so the trust owns it. Consider a couple who sign a complete set of documents but never record a new deed for their Camarillo home. The house stays in their personal names, so the trust does not control it. After a death, the family may face the court process the couple planned to avoid.

The First Call and the First Meeting
The first call is brief. You describe the general subject, such as a first plan, a recent death or a question about an existing trust, and the staff confirm that the firm can take the matter. At the first meeting, the attorney lists your assets and the people you want acting for you. That meeting can take place at the office, by phone or by video. Please bring any existing trust, will or recent deed.
Signing Your Documents and Funding Your Trust
Questions about the draft are welcome before you sign. The signing appointment covers witnessing and notarization where California requires them. Afterward, the firm records any deed it prepared and gives you a written list of accounts you still need to retitle. When a bank requires its own form, the firm tells you which form to use and what it should say.
